On 14th March, 2013 in Środa Śląska official ceremony for laying of the cornerstone for the largest European BASF New Catalyst Plant took place .

Within the construction of the plant Mostostal Zabrze will execute the EPC Contract for mechanical and installation package of work. The contract agreement was signed on 21st February this year.

The anticipated Contract value amounts to net PLN 146.8 million (including: 1st stage – ca net PLN 74.6 million, optional 2nd stage – ca net PLN 72.2 million). The works begin still in February. Completion of the Project is scheduled for the second half of 2014.

BASF company will invest ca € 90 million in the first stage of construction of the car catalyst plant in Środa Śląska within the Special Economic Zone nearby Wroclaw. BASF New Catalyst Plant with total area of 40,000 m2 is to be the largest such a facility in Europe. The plant will start production in the first quarter of 2014. All 10 planned light duty and heavy duty production lines will be fully operational until 2016. Additional expansion will follow, raising the total investment volume for the project to approximately € 150 million. BASF expects to employ over 400 people at the new site.
