On 18 July, 2014 the ceremony of Grand Opening of BASF New Catalyst Plant in Środa Śląska took place. MOSTOSTAL ZABRZE S.A. being the EPC contractor of the process part of the plant, i.e. so-called System Engineering to large extent participated in construction of the plant. Beside the Contractors the event was above all attended by the representatives of the Investor, i.e. BASF and BASF Polska as well as numerous guests representing governmental and self-governmental administration.

The representatives of the Company and Project Management Team were honored to have taken part in the event, which was at the same time an opportunity to assess already completed works and discuss further actions to be carried out within the project, being for the Company a huge engineering-construction challenge.

Based on EPC formula in the last 17 months within I Phase Mostostal Zabrze completed works including engineering, delivery, erection and start-up of fully-automated process plant comprising, but not limited to, the following: intricate system of piping, tanks, mixers, mills, pumps, exchangers, measuring devices, etc. mainly made of stainless steel. At present Mostostal Zabrze is successfully executing II Phase of this project, which completion is scheduled for December 2014. It’s worth emphasizing that BASF project is one of the major contract currently being under construction and its value equals PLN 158,8 million.

BASF New Catalyst Plant in Środa Śląska with total area of 40,000 sqm is the largest such a facility in Europe. All 10 planned light duty and heavy duty production lines will  be fully operational until 2016, and the total investment volume for the project will rise to approximately € 150 million.

It’s worth noting that the cooperation with such a reputed company as BASF is a highly essential recommendation for Mostostal Zabrze that may in the future lead to invitations to participate in tender proceedings for new forthcoming investment undertakings.
