“Lider Dostępności” is an architectural and urban competition of the Integracja Foundation and the Stowarzyszenie Urbanistów Polskich, under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The idea behind the competition is to promote universal design and reward urban and architectural solutions that are available to all user groups, including people with disabilities.

In this year’s edition of the competition, the award in the Large Public Utility Building category went to Mostostal Zabrze Biprohut S.A., which was responsible for the project of this investment. It is also worth mentioning that another company from the MZ Group – Mostostal Zabrze GPBP S.A – had its share in the implementation of this project!

The Transfer Center in Gliwice received a distinction for the quality of the solutions used in the facility and its adaptation to the needs of all users. The jury of the competition appreciated i.a. adapting the Gliwice TC to the needs of the blind and visually impaired, which is the result of close cooperation with the Polski Związek Niewidomych. Throughout the complex about 2.5 km of guiding paths, warning fields and a total of 7 typhlographic plans were installed. By unifying the guidance and warning system with an analogous solution used at the nearby railway station, it was easier for visually impaired travelers to find their way around this vast space.

Due to the fact that the Architectural and Urban Competition “Lider Dostępności” is under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, the presentation of thanks and distinctions took place in the presence of the First Lady of the Republic of Poland.

Thank you for this distinction and for noticing our efforts in designing accessible and useful for everyone!
