A Few Months Ago, We Introduced Łukasz from MZGPBP, Who After Work Became a World Champion in Archery (Team Event) and Vice-Champion in the Individual Event (2023–2024). And We Didn’t Have to Wait Long for the Next Dose of Sporting Achievements in Our Group.
Today, in the series “Champions Not Only on Construction Sites,” we present our colleague from the IT department, Jan Stańczyk. Jan has been a member of the IKS Jeźdźcy PreZero Arena Gliwice wheelchair rugby team for seven years.
👨🦽 The story of the Integrative Sports Club “Jeźdźcy” began in 2005, when a group of enthusiasts, under the guidance of active rehabilitation instructors, started their first training sessions in Borowa Wieś.
🏆 At the end of last year, the IKS Jeźdźcy Gliwice team became Polish Champions for the fourth time and also won the International Polish Cup in wheelchair rugby. Among the 11 clubs affiliated with the Polish Wheelchair Rugby Association, the most decorated team is the Jeźdźcy from Gliwice. For the club, it was the fourth season and the fourth national championship.
Jan started his wheelchair rugby journey over 10 years ago, joining his first training session on a friend’s recommendation. As he recalls:
“After my first training, I thought this sport wasn’t for me. I gave up and stopped training. A few years later, I felt ready to give it another try. Since then, I have trained and competed under the IKS “Jeźdźcy” Mikołów logo. Over the years, our team became more recognized, sponsors joined, and today we operate under the name IKS Jeźdźcy PreZero Arena Gliwice.”
It’s truly an extraordinary passion and a lesson in perseverance. Jan says that this sport teaches him “independence and persistence in pursuing goals, not only sports-related but also in life.”
We congratulate Jan on this phenomenal success and hope his achievement inspires all of us to never give up and strive to reach our goals in every area of life! 💪👏
