On 22 November, 2016 Mostostal Zabrze S.A. (MZSA) was awarded the first prize in the contest „Build safely” organized by the State Labour Inspectorate in Rzeszów. The company received this honourable title for acting as a General Contractor of the project named „Construction of MECHANICAL COMPONENTS MANUFACTURING PLANT with office and social area and auxiliary buildings located in Ropczyce at 5 Przemysłowa Street” for Aero Gearbox International, a company established jointly by Rolls-Royce and Hispano-Suiza (Safran).

The idea of the competition is to promote building contractors who provide safe completion of projects. Selection of the laureates of the contest along was precedeed by several inspection visits, as well as submission of appropriate documents and reports meeting the criteria.

On behalf of MZSA the award was collected by the President of the Board (CEO), Aleksander Balcer, who also plays the role of the Chairman of the Health & Safety Committee within the company.

From the very beginning of the investment the whole delivery team including: Mostostal Zabrze S.A. (General Contractor), Aero Gearbox International (Client) and PM Group (Project Engineer and Designer) have been promoting the safety culture on site not only among their own employees, but also among numerous subcontractors. Even during traditional topping out ceremony MZSA decided to organize the competition whose leitmotif was awareness of safety rules. Besides, all parties engaged in this undertaking have been fully aware that safe manner of execution of works has been also the key to efficient and timely project completion.  Since the commencement of works it has been already 344 days with zero accidents.

This success has been achieved owing to proactive and motivating support of the delivery team involved in the project. Their knowledge and experience, valuable guidelines and constructive exchange of views and ideas including real focus on safety issues have become rich source of inspiration for further improvement of safety standards.

This award is not only another bay. Safety in practice is key issue. MZSA considers it above all as an impetus to further effective work aiming at improvement of safety. On the other hand, being a large construction company and general contractor we feel obliged to advocate the idea of safe execution of works among our subcontractors and suppliers.

Mostostal Zabrze S.A. delivers projects both in industrial and general construction, as well as power engineering and environmental sectors. Often the company performs on working plants, where care for safety standards is of utmost importance also in terms of work organization planning.

In previous years Mostostal Zabrze S.A. was awarded twice for zero-accident completion of works, including:

– Safety Progress Award by E.ON to Mostostal Zabrze S.A in 2011 (Maasvlakte Power Plant, Netherlands).

– Safe Construction of the Year 2009 – Combined Heat and Power Plant FORTUM in Częstochowa
